KDC's Session with Hon. Commissioner of Finance Kano in preparation for the Kano Startup Competition in partnership with the Kano State Government. Kano State Government has formalised it's partnership with KDC on the Kano Startup Competition project, where as Kano State Government will drive the project while KDC will facilitate technical support. The Project will support & empower 20 entrepreneurs that are resident in Kano with creative & ingenious ideas/businesses that can serve as local solutions to our everyday problems. The empowerment will include both financial & technical support. 

The Graduation Ceremony of the KDC Foundation's 300 Trained Almajiris

The graduation ceremony of the KDC foundation's  300 trained almajiris, sponsored by the US embassy under the community library Project, from Wurabagga, Kawo & Dakata centers was a success. A quiz was also conducted among the three centers where Kawo Center emerged the winner. In attendance were; 
  1. The Executive Chairman of Kano State Quranic & Islamiyyah Schools Management Board (KSQISMB) 
  2. District head of Dakata ward 
  3. Education Secretary of Nassarawa Local Government 
  4. District head of Tishama Community 
  5. Representatives from  Kano Hisbah & Kano council of Ulama
  6. Various community Imams and clerics 
  7. Alarammas and other community stakeholders.
Gifts were presented to all the participants of the quiz and certificates were issued to the tutors that conducted the year long successful program.

Delegation of KDC foundation visited a renowned Islamic scholar & a prominent and pioneer member of the Kano State Council of Ulama and Special Advisor to His Excellency the Executive Governor of Kano State on Special Duties Sheik Ibrahim Khalil. We specifically engaged him on collaborating with KDC Foundation on our community library project advocacy programs. KDC foundation has been developing and deploying high impact and sustainable models in collaboration with relevant stakeholders to reform the almajiri education system by addressing both the stock of the almajiris in the cities through facilitating basic literacy in a feed and read (community library) model and their influx from the villages through community learning centers that train and empower village children that would have otherwise been sent to almajiri schools in the city.

From Khalifa Dankadai Company (KDC) Foundation, we paid a courtesy visit to His Highness Muhammad Sanusi II the Emir of Kano at the historic Kano Emir's Palace. We were warmly received by His Highness the Emir. We went to seek his Royal & Fatherly blessings & collaboration. KDC Foundation is currently focused on partnering with relevant stakeholders to reform the almajiri education system in Northern Nigeria through it's Community Library Project, with support from Embassy of United States of America.

KDC foundation hosted almajiris, Alarammas, community leaders & government officials at an Iftar Program

The Iftar program organized and sponsored by KDC foundation with support of Embassy of United States Of America, on Thursday 24th May 2018 across their 3 community library centers:

  1. Dakata 
  2. Kawo
  3. Wurabagga

The Iftar program was held at the 3 centers concurrently and was attended by ward District heads, the Alarammomi, the almajiris, representatives from the Kano State Qur'anic and Islamiyya Schools Management Board etc.

According to the head of the KDC foundation Ahmad Adam, the Iftar Program was organized with the objective of strengthening the foundation's relationship with the almajiris, the alarammas, government officials and other community leaders. "we want to show the almajiris how much we care about them and how far we are willing to go in order to support them collectively, together with other stakeholders" Mr. Adam added.

KDC foundation is currently working with the Government and other relevant stakeholders to reform the almajiri education system

Kano Qur'anic and Islamiyya Schools Management Board partners KDC foundation

The Executive Chairman of The Kano State Qur'anic and Islamiyya Schools Management Board Gwani Yahuza Gwani DanZarga mentioned this in a letter addressed to the Projects Director of KDC Foundation dated 24th May 2018, that the board has agreed to collaborate with KDC foundation on areas of capacity building, skills acquisition and support & assurance in addressing critical challenges at both Tsangaya and Islamiyya Schools.

The head of the KDC foundation Ahmad Adam mentioned that their foundation has been making efforts to draw the attention of the government (at all levels) to the dire need for intervention in the almajiri education system. He also added that the KDC Foundation believes that it's community library Project will be the key to finally addressing the almajiri menace

Ahmad Adam is the new & first head of KDC foundation, as the foundation used to be manned directly by foundation's Projects Coordinator, AbdulHalim Sanusi. The development came as a result of rapid growth in scale and activities of both the Company and the Foundation. Ahmad Ahmad the erstwhile team lead of the KDC foundation and Acting Projects Coordinator of KDC, is currently the Director of Bells Nigeria, and had been a top management officer at KDC foundation since 2015. Ahmad Adam announced his plans for the foundation as quoted below: "for the short and medium term plans is to revive and improve on the operational structure of the existing projects by creating a practical and sustainable ways to maintain standards, and impose order and accountability in all related activities. The long term plan is to actually build an eco system around the projects through initiation of new projects, campaigns and collaborations, which eventually the foundation will not solely rely on the company's CSR to finance it's projects" He also added that, "The anticipated challenges are: 1.Getting the needed support from the government and other organizations. 2.having sufficient funds make the right impact" Lastly, the new head of KDC foundation called on all stakeholders and the general public to support the worthy cause that drives the foundation, adding that "We are always faced with two major primary choices in life, we either accept a situation as it is, or take the responsibility to change it. KDC foundation has made it a priority to improve the lives of the less privilege children as a way to give back to our country and change the narrative for good. We urge the government, international organizations and individuals to support the KDC foundation" KDC's Projects Director & CEO Khalifa Usman Mustapha also commended Mr Adam's commitment to KDC's cause and expressed confidence in Mr Adam's capacity to deliver very well on his new task.

Delegation of KDC foundation today met with the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the President on National Social Investment Programs Barrister Isma'il Ahmad, alongside The Executive Chairman of the Kano State Qur'anic & Islamiyyah Schools Management board, Gwani Yahuza Gwani Dan Zarga. The three parties agreed to work together in collaboration with relevant stakeholders to reform the almajiri education subsector. The SSA commended the efforts of KDC foundation especially in terms of feeding & educating the almajiri children through it's Community Library Project and bringing to the attention of major stakeholders the dire need for intervention in the almajiri sector. He also applauded the commitment of the Kano State Qur'anic & Islamiyyah Schools Management Board. Furthermore, the Executive Chairman of the Kano State Qur'anic & Islamiyyah Schools Management Board thanked the SSA and KDC foundation for their support and assured them of the Board's readiness and resolve to work with them. Lastly, the Project Director of KDC foundation Khalifa Usman Mustapha also thanked the SSA and the Executive Chairman of the Kano State Qur'anic & Islamiyyah Schools Management Board for supporting the KDC Foundation's Community Library Project. The KDC foundation's Project Coordinator AbdulHalim Sanusi Salisu & the newly appointed Head of KDC foundation Ahmad Adam, were also present at the meeting.

Fashion Show Audition

Part of it is the need to have a fashion show that is inline with our norms and values as indigenes of Kano State and the need to cut off all unnecessary things and promote only creativity among the fashion designers.
